The Donegal Sports Star committee has released the list of nominees for the 2015 Awards function, which takes place in the Mount Errigal Hotel on Friday 29th January.
It’s going to be a very special night for the organization, which will be marking its 40th anniversary with some very special guests being lined up for the occasion.
Over 190 names have been listed for awards in 40 categories so it’s been an extremely busy time for the judging panel who will finalise the list of winners over the next couple of weeks.
At this stage just two people athlete Kieran Murray from Ramelton and Buncrana golfer Oliver Doherty know that they will definitely be receiving awards on the night.
Doherty won a silver medal at the World Special Olympics in Los Angeles at the end of July giving him the Special Athlete category award. Meanwhile in August there was double gold for Murray at the World Transplant Games in Argentina. Murray who is a kidney transplant recipient was first in the 5k and 1,500 metres and also took bronze in the 800m at the global games. It means that the Milford A.C. man who resides at Tully Mountain will be the winner of the Transplant category for the second year in a row.
